There is no charge for any of the information or special features of the site. Users can take the Travel Quiz or contribute to the Cheap Travel Forum by narrating any experiences or giving suggestions. The website is easy to use; users have to simply select a continent, scroll down until they find the city, town or village that they are interested in.

Travel Journal has now been updated to include over 60 new country guides, travel blogs, and a new look to the homepage. In addition, unique content through live travel stories, tips and regional travel guides as well as interviews with travel experts and other interesting individuals is being added. Users can display their experiences with little or no technical expertise while keeping an archive of all their past trips. Travelers can also upload photos and map their trips as well as meet other travelers. Most of the information on the site is composed and published while their authors are still traveling, using public Internet stations and laptops.
