Seatguru.com is a travel resource website that contains seating plan diagrams for most types of planes used by major airlines. The site helps flyers pick their seats before boarding an airplane. The website provides detailed seat map graphics, seat specific comments denoting seats with limited recline, reduced legroom, mis-aligned windows, and color-coding to help identify superior and substandard seats. Seatguru was launched in 2001 by a frequent flyer named Matthew Daimler.
The various airlines are provided in an alphabetical order which makes it easy for travelers to pick the airline that they are flying. From the airline's General Information page, users can navigate the airline's information pages for tips on Check-in, Baggage, Unaccompanied Minors and Traveling with Infants and Pets.
From a list of planes that the airline flies, the user has to select the aircraft that he or she is flying.
You can then roll the mouse over the seats in the seatmap to view seat descriptions and comments.
You can also find the plane description, seat pitch, and seat width in the table provided.
SeatGuru has expanded to over 275 airplane seatmaps from over 40 different airlines. In August 2003, SeatGuru.com was incorporated into Google's AdSense program. The AdSense platform helped SeatGuru generate revenues from its traffic. SeatGuru expanded its website in early 2006 to include new features such as Comparison Charts and also added helpful information regarding airline policies and programs.
