Go10000.com is a unique travel search engine based in Beijing, China. It was founded by George Cao in October 2004. Go10000 combines travel information of nearly 100 Chinese travel websites and allows users to look at optimal booking lead times (the best time to book a flight for a given departure date) for their journey. Users prefer Go10000 because of its ease of use and quick results.

Go10000.com has recently added two sections - a travel information area and a online bulleting board system (BBS). However, different from competitors like Kayak and Mobissimo, Go10000 has the drawback of operating in an environment where travel industry’s rates are very standard. As a result, it is difficult for them to offer users many price differentials. According to the company, Go10000.com has “only made several thousand yuan since it first opened”. The reasons given for this are the popularity of search engines like Google, and the ease with which meta search engine technology can be implemented.

Founder and president George Cao stresses the fact that Go10000 is a Chinese travel search engine. He makes it clear that it is targeted at the local market. Even though there are some hotels with English names mentioned on the site, it is due to the reason that local users identify popular hotels by their English names instead of the Chinese names (for example, Holiday Inn).
