Tourists vs. Travelers
There are a few differences between tourists and travelers. Tourists like to travel once or twice a year. They will hit every shop they can and buy many souvenirs. These people enjoy staying in hotels that have everything they will need for their stay. Instead of finding local hangouts, they will stay around the hotel or hop on tour buses in order to see the sights. They will usually only stop at places that are famous or that draw huge crowds. They will not find out of the way places or vacant beaches. Tourists are more interested in buildings and artwork and are less interested in people.
Travelers are very different. These are people who travel often and who do not want to spend their time on a tour bus. They like to interact with other people and would rather stay at a smaller hotel rather than a large chain. People who travel may want to spend time with friends and will stay at their homes. Travelers love to try new foods and will not settle for hotel cooking. They want to find small places where the locals eat. Tourists and travelers both travel using many different modes of transportation, but have very different agendas while on the road. People who like to travel do not mind traveling alone or with one other person. Tourists will usually travel with their family and use the time as their vacation. There are many different kinds of people who travel. People have preferences as to why they travel, however.
