Tokyo Traveling

Tokyo is a city that offers a lot to do. Tokyo’s famous ‘sentos” or public baths are popular among tourists. For the more adventurous, there is the grisly Meguro Parasitological Museum. One of its features is the 8.8 m long tapeworm. Tokyo’s most splendid shrine is the Meiji jingu shrine built in memory of the Empereor Meiji and empress Shoken. It was reconstructed after the bombing destroyes in World war II.

The twin towers of the Tokyo Metropolitan Building offer spectacular views of the city. Another place for fantastic views is the Roppongi. The Detached Palace Garden is one of Tokyo’s finest gardens. It houses trees some of which are hundreds of years old. An interesting way to visit this garden is to take a boat ride on the Sumida River from Asakusa. The Tsukiji Fish market is a fantastic sight, full of hustle and bustle. Vendors sell everything from tunas to sea cucumbers here and it is a good place to try some authentic sushi.
